About Irina Santaiguina

Born in Chile, but residing in Melbourne, Irina is the brains – and smiling face – behind Fit&Delicious, and is a guru of corporate fitness and group wellness.

I have always been passionate about the beauty of dance, exercise, and movement, and it all stems from when I worked previously as a Latin dance performer – in what seems to be a past life – back home in Chile. Years later, after being in Australia for some time, I went onto completing my Fitness Certificates III and IV and launched myself into 15 classes of Zumba per week, plus training personal and corporate fitness clients. I was moving so fast and was so excited about my new career that I didn’t pay much attention to my own wellness and nutrition at all! Then one day I collapsed from exhaustion and was rushed to the hospital. It became evident from the doctors questioning that I had severely neglected my mental wellbeing and food intake, and both my body and mind had completely rebelled on me.

So, I decided to do something about it, and I learnt all I could about optimising my mental state and nutrition. By doing plenty of reading, meditating, and lots of healthy eating, I discovered the amazing properties of raw food and superfoods, and also the true importance of relaxation and mindfulness. When combined with a good exercise program, these integral new additions to your daily routine can be truly transformative for anyone looking to lead a happier and healthy lifestyle.

I really wanted to share this knowledge in a fun and exciting way, breaking the mould of traditional exercise and mindfulness regimes, and this is how Fit&Delicious came to life. I started working with lots more corporate fitness groups, schools, and all types of other organisations in need of a serious wellness boost, and I haven’t looked back since!

Why Irina Loves Her Job

Irina has a unique approach to corporate fitness and group wellness.

Most people have started numerous health programs, but really struggle with getting long-term success that sticks. They’ve tried all types of diets, bootcamps, personal trainers, etc, but nothing has lasted. People always have had some sort of short term success, but end up bored, confused, or frustrated with a lack of results. They then stop altogether, and end up back where they started from, thinking: “how did I get here again?” We’ve all been there, but don’t worry, because you are not alone, and instilling these skills via corporate fitness and group wellness is my specialty!

The satisfaction I get when I show people a new world of mindfulness, fitness, and relaxation, leading to a healthier and more active lifestyle provides me with a real sense of accomplishment, and people are so astonished how quick and easy it can be. My all-time favourite life hack, which I teach in almost every group, is my ability to quickly decrease my stress and anxiety levels with yoga and meditation – it’s an integral part of my day, and I am blessed to share this wisdom on a daily basis in my group sessions.

I have worked with a large number of corporate fitness, group wellness, and school groups over the years, and I get loads of great feedback and return clients who continually rate my workshops as being fun, interactive and highly educational. Plus, I focus on the long term success with their health goals in mind. Furthermore, I love bringing a sense of teamwork and comradeship to the workplace can provide a healthier work environment. I jump for joy when I hear that a workplace has invested in a powerful blender to make yummy, healthy shakes, or they have started a meditation group amongst themselves. It’s so rewarding to know that I have helped improve lifestyle habits that can lead to optimal health after my work has finished.

When I am not working, I volunteer with the Yoga Project, which specialises in providing yoga for refugees. Its aim is to provide them with a space where they can learn relaxation techniques and gives them time to wind down from stress and some of the painful and traumatic experiences they’ve to endure when they left their home and land to come to Australia.

  • Yoga instructor with 300 Hours Somachi training
  • Diploma in Early Childhood development
